The Repertory Theatre of St.Louis has the most wonderful Christmas Carol, with sweet children from our local choirs there to herald in a new age. The production is very different from the one imagined by Dickens. I liked the flouncy stage costumes, ghoulish ghost dancing and smooth acrobatics. I had tears well up when we saw the tragic scenes and the addition of three peddlers moved the story along with charm. I enjoyed the jubilant converted Scrooge making things right in the end. It’s a tale that has resonance today. The new director at the Rep Hana Sharif has brought us a theatrical adventure that heals, a pleasing tale that makes the treacherous path ahead look doable. Perhaps we can set things right after all.
